Although they knew who each other were and had little crushes, Meghan and Michael began to fall for each other on a fateful Autumn night in 2013.
For Meghan, this night felt like magic and the start of something special, the way their eyes kept meeting with shy smiles across the room.
For Michael, this night was important. “A cute girl” became someone else, someone real. Someone he could see himself spending time with, someone who could be more than just a friend - if he was lucky enough.
October-November 2013
Meghans Side: After a series of evenings involving a haunted house that Meghan had to pretend to be scared at to hold Michael’s hand, a movie night watching horror movies that she was actually scared at, climbing the steepest dune in Holland, Michigan, and dancing at the local dive bar, Michael and Meghan fell into a relationship.
Michaels side: After wowing Meghan with his unique conversational wit, and charming sense of humor, Michael made his move at a local haunted house. When a terrified Meghan grabbed his hand, Michael assured her. As long as he was around, she would be safe. This could be considered their first date, but many more followed. They danced the night away, made forts in her living room, and indeed climbed the tallest dune in Holland. The last one was a test :)
2013-2014
They fell for each other in the chaotic way 21 year olds do. Messy, naive, and hopeful.
The end of Season 1 was very sad. We won’t talk about that part.
Michael moved to Atlanta and Meghan moved to New York City.
Summer–Fall 2016
Years after their last conversation, Michael still couldn’t get Meghan out of his head. He wondered if she was feeling something similar, but since they were cities apart, there was only one way to find out. Texts started to be sent back and forth, occasionally at first, then more frequently. Finally, plans were made for Michael to visit NYC to see an M83 show with Meghan.
October 2016
2 years after the breakup, they were standing in front of each other again at Meghan’s front door. Nervous and shaky but with that same special energy. They walked around New York filling each other in on their lives since they last saw each other. They went to an M83 show, got pizza, listened to 2 records all the way through, then finally finally, Michael kissed Meghan. It was clear to them in that moment that nothing, and everything, had changed.
2016-2018
They spent the next few years traveling back and forth between New York and Atlanta to see each other every month, falling more in love than ever before. They traveled to new cities and countries, holding each other tight every chance they could.
February 2018
Michael, realizing that Meghan really was the one, said goodbye to the south and moved to NYC. They found a cute little apartment in Bed-Stuy (where they still live) and learned how to cohabitate after so much time as a long distance couple. This part was actually way easier than Michael thought, Meghan may not agree ;)
2020
They stayed in the city during COVID lockdown and felt their relationship grow despite the hardships. They adopted the most perfect kitty cat and fell in love with Paprika together.
February 14, 2024
After a very cute Valentine’s Day spent their favorite way (lunch, coffee, ice cream, & walking around in love,) they continued their tradition of making a Valentines Day heart shaped pizza & danced around their kitchen to love songs. They talked about wanting to spend their lives together and Michael knew there wouldn’t be a better time than this to ask the question. So down on one knee he got, and “Yes of course” she said.

Although they’ve been telling each other for years, they will formally say “I do” to forever in front of all of the people they love. They’ll dance the night away and kiss until the sun comes up forever and ever and ever, until the world stops turning.
